Safety Checklist for Link2Hope

We are thankful you are using the Link2Hope platform to connect with others in your community! We encourage you always to use good judgment when meeting and ensure you are biblically helping others. We have compiled a few tips here to help ensure both a safe and biblical interaction when meeting with others for the first time.

  • Meet in a public meeting place if possible.
  • Meet needs that have been posted on the platform and help in other ways when possible, but be careful about meeting financial needs directly. If a financial need arises, point people to the service providers on Link2Hope that can help.
  • Tell a friend or family member where you’re going and consider using a live location-sharing app or function on your mobile phone to share your location with a family member or friend during your scheduled meetup.
  • Consider having a friend accompany you.
  • Use your best judgment when communicating with the other person.
  • Don’t overshare personal information.
  • Bring your mobile phone with you, and make sure that the battery is charged.
  • Message the other person to tell them when you’re on your way or if you’re going to be late.
  • Avoid carrying excessively large amounts of cash with you.
  • Be sure to check and follow local laws and directives that may be in place during this time.
If you have any questions, you are always welcome to reach out at contact@link2hoperoanoke.org or call 540-523-1098.
